Is there any good place to live in Shanghai nowadays?

I am a journalism student from Australia currently learning Mandarin Chinese. Next year I will be living in Shanghai for a year to further develop my Mandarin and experience a new culture. I do not want to live in the school,I decide to live out of the school to experience the cultural about Shanghai.Is there any good place to live in Shanghai?
