There's no way to tell for sure from here. What were you doing at the time the slowdown happened? Were you using it locally or attempting something while connected to Internet?
I'd make sure my virus protection and malware prevention is updated and run properly.
If there was an error...do you mean there was an error message? If so, what was the error message?
What other applications are running at same time. Try it again while keeping open your Task Manager and see what else is running.
