'unsolvable' riddle

Today my English teacher gave us this sort of riddle. Only trouble is no one out of the 3 or 4 years of his teaching has gotten it.

The points to consider

- The title of it on the board was Utica
- It's best colors are red, white and blue instead of the old brown and yellow
-It is best used to line the inside of an Eskimo's igloo.
- It's value goes up everday
-The spelling changes everday.

The best guess he said he ever got was the USA Today, because its cover is red white and blue, the stocks go up, you can line it inside the igloo and the title of it changes everday, but that was wrong.

Can we assume Utica is the NY college? Sorry if that sounds a dumb question, and can you explain "the old brown and yellow"

That was all we were given. I wouldn't assume anything. But I've posted this to two or three forums, and noone has gotten it yet.

Actually that was a tought riddle. I shall explain how it works:

- -It's best colors are red, white and blue instead of the old brown and yellow
++red=free days
++white=snow days
++blue=clear sunny days
++old brown and yellow, would mean autimn, yellow leafs and brown dead old leafs

- It is best used to line the inside of an Eskimo's igloo.
++Dates as in the stuff u eat

- It's value goes up everday
++The date changes daily

- The spelling changes everday.
++The date changes daily, and so does the spelling 1st may, 2nd may....

Bring some more back from your teacher that was good Smile

That doesn't make sense--how and why would you line the inside of an igloo with dates?

This is great and all, but entirely useless to anyone who actually wants to solve a riddle. "Points to consider" isn't going to help anyone. What we need, in order to help you, is the exact wording of the riddle. Sometimes something as simple as a placement of words can mean the difference between a solvable riddle and gibberish.

A good example: Does it say "The spelling changes everyday" or "Its spelling is changed each day"

It could be a word riddle, and the exact words, rearranged, could give a hint or part of the answer. Please, give us the original format and wording of the riddle-or else no one can help ya.

By the way: Dates makes no sense as an answer. At all.
