On the subject of Cohen: When nobody wanted his songs, what established artist recorded a few and even introduced him to the stage (where stage fright almost kept him from performing)?

I have one Dylan song on a compilation folk record in which he sings "Oh ye playboys and playgirls
Ain't gonna run my world
Ain't a gonna run my world
Not now or any other time.

It netted him lots of early bad reviews in Playboy Mag.

OK here's my question (it veers a bit off of strict musical trivia; hope that's OK...)

Janis Joplin was born in a relatively small blue-collar town not far from where I was; almost all of you can find that out the name of that town pretty easily.

What was the name of the high school she attended there?

Bonus points if you can name a few of her classmates: a former coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and a radio DJ with a just-released record who unfortunately chose to catch a ride on Buddy Holly's airplane on the wrong wintry evening.

P.S. She didn't graduate; she dropped out and took off for the Haight. At some point she had a blind date with a former Reagan Cabinet official who is still prominent on the talking-heads circuit today. An honorary "expert" designation awaits if you know the answer.

Hi PDiddie --

town: Port Arthur, Texas

high school: Thomas Jefferson High School

DJ: Jiles P. Richardson, known as The Big Bopper, recorded "Chantilly Lace"

former Dallas Cowboys coach: Jimmy Johnson

are those correct????

New Question......

Which musician was the only guest on the original "American Bandstand" to shun the lip sync and perform live?

Very Happy
