A man lives on the 12th floor of an apartment building.He wakes up in the morning and gets ready for work by showering, brushing his teeth, eating breakfast, etc. He then goes into the elevator of his apartment building and hits the button to go to the lobby. He then walks 3 blocks to work and at the end of the day he walks 3 blocks back. He goes into the elevator and hits the button for the eighth floor and walks up 4 flights of stairs to get to his apartment. This is a regular routine for him. Why does he do this?
*HINT* The elevator is perfectly fine and not broken in any way, shape, or form.
@americanlad54,
He is too short to reach the 12th floor button.
@americanlad54,
That riddle is ancient. He's a midget who can reach the ground floor button but not the 12th floor button.
@Lustig Andrei,
The riddle is why he doesn't just swap apartments with a guy on the 8th floor.

That's not a riddle. That's a conundrum.
