One day she'll regret
And it will be to late
To turn her back on the one who loved her
Causeing so much pain.
What made her so cold?
We gave her everything
Most of all
We gave her love.
Always by my side
Fathers pride and joy
Bedtime stories
She was my life.
Tried to give her everything,
My Father neglected in me.
She was my Daughter my best Friend.
When her Mother re-married.
I was cast aside
One thing she should remember
Her Mother left me.
This is so intensely personal, I'm not sure how to comment. Wow...very visceral and real.
Thank-you so much for taking the time to read it.
This says a lot in very few lines: the bitterness comes across in the first stanza; in the other stanzas there is a mixture of confusion and despair and perhaps a measure of disbelief? How can life be so unfair?
This might not be the best comparison but imagine for the longest time you have paid into a retirement fund. The time comes to collect your pension and there is nothing: not a penny.
This poem is powerful and very topical too.
Thanks for reading and understanding this piece.
