I liked her but did not see many of her films. The only one I recall much of is where she swam with cartoon Tom and Jerry.

@edgarblythe,
I don't remember the names of any of her movies. But I remember her in that film about the first woman to swim the English Channel. (Can't remember her name now.) And the main reason I remember that was because I saw it at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and it was my very first visit there as a kid and I was really impressed with the Rockettes more than with the film.

@Lustig Andrei,
I think all of her movies were pretty much forgettable. I hadda go see the "THATS ENTERTAINMENT" one with my mom during the early 70's. My Dqd refursed to go and I was visiting home for a few weeks and I was elected. I don't even remember Williams bit in that movie. I remember Jimmie Stewqrt and Humphrey Bogqrt qnd Marilyn Monroe but cant recall Esther Williams even being in the damned thing.

oh yeh
Good Career move Esther

She was on the dead pool but way down in points cause she busted her hip awhile ago and looked frail in her picture on Wikipdia

@edgarblythe,
Thanx for that, edgar. I doubt there was anything else worth remembering. She was a beautiful woman and one hell of a swimmer. Everybody thought she would bring home a slew of gold medals from the 1940 Olympics. But the Olympics were cancelled that year due to a little misunderstanding called World War Two. I don't remember her being much of an actress, but with Busby Berkeley choreography, who noticed?

I loved Esther Williams movies! I spent many a happy Saturday matinée at the movie theater watching them when I was a kid, and a pre-teen and a young teen. Apart from the swimming extravaganzas, I remember musicals, and light romantic comedies, and just plain enjoyable movies with top-notch casts in addition to Williams.

Perhaps her movies appealed more to females, I always saw them with my girlfriends. In those days, theaters still had very large screens and her movies were always bright and colorful, and, I guess, what would be considered "wholesome" entertainment. And she was a fairly good actress, certainly for the kind of films she made. I associate her with happy childhood memories of my movie going.

I also remember her line of swimsuits. I never bought one, but they seemed like well made suits.
