This is the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the Beatles in Canada. The CBC has a weekly program, "Rewind," which plays old CBC tapes on a particular subject. Today they're doing the Beatles. Just heard Canadian girls in the background praising them as "nice, clean boys."
A reporter says that they smoke in public and asks if they would give up smoking to set a good example. He gets responses such as "No, we're not out to set examples." "Other people smoke in pbulic, have you asked them?"
I know technically that this is a Beatles thread, but if George Martin was considered to be the fifth Beatle, then Jeff should be seriously considerded to be put forward for sixth.
Hyde Park in London this Sunday just gone saw Radio2 hold their 'Festival in a Day' and Jeff Lynne's ELO was the headline act.
He hasn't played a gig on this scale for over thirty years, and now plans to do a world tour next year.
A more modest (shy even) guy you couldn't meet. So if you have just over an hour to spare, here he is at that concert, in front of 50,000 people amd loving every minute.
There is about a two minute intro from various people, including Paul Mc and Tom Petty, etc..
I just hope the youtube vid works where you are......
Here's a strange one . . . Chuck Berry performs his hit "Memphis, Tennessee" with the Plastic Ono Band. The sound quality is poor, but that's OK, the performance ain't so hot, either.
