The M14 main battle rifle has been around since 1957.
Most recognizable as the classic wood and steel rifle you see pictured below.

Today's civilian, semi automatic copy of the venerable M14 rifle benefits from years of refinement.
This CQB-16 is modernized with a shorter barrel, bolted into an aircraft aluminum chassis and equipped with a modern optic.

The weight differential between these two M14s is just 10.4 ounces

@H2O MAN,
The good thing about the M-14 is that the one assigned to me was more functional than the M-1 I had in basic. I believe that's called Damning with Feint Praise.

Yes, the M14 was designed to replace the battle proven M1 Garand and it exceeded expectations.
