has anyone heard of the following riddle?
I made history for who I was---and who I wasn't.
You'd find me in a deck of cards, and I was gilded.
When it came to speed, I was electric and I was a
pioneer. When all were too young to vote, I was making history.
I was a broad ray of light for children worldwide.
For 2 + 2 +7 +1 +1, I did what no other before me had ever done before...or since.
My honors were real, AND they were imagined in dreams and fantasies
I started at the beginning of the alphabet, but most knew me from the end of the alphabet.
I was one of the most renowned Yanks ever at Oxford.
See me on the street, you wouldn't know me---but,
you DID know who i became!!
My star launched into the firmament just as another's crashed and burned.
Even J. Edgar was wowed by me.
I was a fantasy hero in the 19-th century; I was a
real hero in the 20-th century.
I was a poet and a crooner, but I will always be remembered for who I wasn't
Who was I????????????"
Thomas Alva Edison would fit most of the riddle, don't know about the crooner bit.
This isn't a riddle. It's an online quiz.
Kev, it's not Edison. the clues are all VERY vague.
Baby, if we knew why would we tell you? We could go win the prize ourselves.
Is this quiz at a particular website???
I'd like to find the quiz.... and learn the answer....
thanks

Where is the website this was posted on(prior to this one)
If there is a prize how do you win it?
Yes I have done some research on this.
J Edgar Hoover had a nephew who invented the electric toothbrush patent number 22711.4523
He was a semi-professional singer and once sang the National Anthem at the Senate. He studied at Oxford but did not receive a degree.
He also invented the twin headlight system for the first motocycle that had lights.
His name was AAron Zibell. Nick name was "Star"
Hope this was some help. He died in 1979
