Saw the Film Love Actually, loved the funeral with the departure song being the Bay City Rollers, Bye, Bye Baby, Baby Goodbye!
You really shouldn't post a question like this for those who have already thought of the answer!! I have two Marilyn Manson songs I can completely identify with that I have actually requested be played at my death. I feel these songs would give insight and depth of though. In reality, is scares the hell out of my family even making such a request by such a questionable artist.
I don't want any funeral. A lay out is the last thing on earth I would ever want. I don't expect my family to respect my wishes. I'm dead. A funeral is for the living to gather and grieve, not for the dead who don't know the difference.
I do not want my body preserved. I want a wooden casket. I want to go back to the dirt, as with nature. My family cannot digest a few of my wants and I don't expect them to. Given that, I want them to do what gives them peace, not me.
Enya - On My Way Home
Sounds like a perfect eulogy song.
Of course, I may go more traditional with one of the following:
Iron Maiden - Strange World
The only place where you can dream, living here is not what it seems.
Ship of white light in the sky, nobody there to reason why.
Here I am, I'm not really there, smiling faces ever so rare.
Let's walk in deepest space, living here just isn't the place.
Stalks of light come from the ground, when I cry there isn't a sound.
All my feelings cannot be held, I'm happy in my new strange world.
Shades of green grasses twine, girls drinking plasma wine.
A look at love, a dream unfolds, living here, you'll never grow old.
Don't you hear me call?
Black Sabbath - Electric Funeral
Reflex in the sky warn you you're gonna die
Storm coming, you'd better hide from the atomic tide
Flashes in the sky turns houses into sties
Turns people into clay, radiation minds decay
Robot minds of robot slaves lead them to atomic rage
Plastic flowers, melting sun, fading moon falls upon
Dying world of radiation, victims of mad frustration
Burning globe of oxy'n fire, like electric funeral pyre
Buildings crashing down to a cracking ground
Rivers turn to wood, ice melting to flood
Earth lies in death bed, clouds cry water dead
Tearing life away, here's the burning pay
Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral
And so in the sky shines the electric eye
Supernatural king takes earth under his wing
Heaven's golden chorus sings, Hell's angels flap their wings
Evil souls fall to Hell, ever trapped in burning cells!
Sabbath? Excellent choice! I have to wonder how our families might take your choice and mine. This one strikes me funny, but it sounds like we are both planning biker funerals with a keg and liquor. Who needs a furneral when you can have a party! lol! Morbid sense of humor hits me at times...
