Installing a spell check/grammer check/thesaurus in Word2000

Hello,

Initially I thought I had a weird problem, but while searching on Google for a solution I have seen many people having the same question. Still, I didn't get a satisfactory answer. Perhaps this forum can help (since I was drawn here through google).

I am German living/working in Canada. I had Word97 when I left Germany and bought Word2000, while doing my PhD in New Zealand (one of these Office versions requiring you to call Microsoft every time you install on a new computer). Now in Canada, I would like to use the German dictionaries from my Office97 laptop on the desktop with the Office2000. I found the files, which seem to be necessary (mssp.., msgr.., msth........dll) and copied them to the \Microsoft Shared\Proof folder as suggested in some forums (and also to the Windows\System32 folder, just in case). The English/French/Spanish ones were already there.
Yet, when I try to make a German spell check in Word now, it still tells me that it can't find the appropriate files. Do I need to activate something somewhere else?
