I would like to know if anyone knows what these ports are for: 6129, 5000, 3127, 1025, and 2745 ? They were just scanned by someone as a minor threat, but am wondering why?I guess I never realized that there are so many ports on this thing. Maybe someone could explain this to me just a little. Thanks ......
There is a full list at 'the horses mouth',
The IANA Website
Lots of good info and other stuff for free at
Gibson Research Corporation, including
ShieldsUp, a pretty good portscan test, and several freeware
Security Utilities of interest to the geek-minded. There's a
Port Identification feature there that will identify the use of any port you specify, as well as let you scan that specific port on your machine to see if its vulnerable.
By the way ... the ports you mention are common "backdoor" ports for trojans ... a good firewall knows this, and stealths them, as it seems yours did.
auditmypc.com has a lookup utility as well
http://www.auditmypc.com/freescan/ops.asp
Here you can enter a port number or a trojan name and it will return the data on either. Good way to see what trojans use what pots.
