Promoting your web site by writing articles.

Is there anybody here that practices this method of web site promotion? I'm thinking about writing articles and submitting them to goarticles.com. I was buzzing around that site for a while and realised it's a great way to promote my web site.

I happen to be an expert in message board design and community building. (Believe it or not)

The articles don't have to be related to your web site, just an area that you are an expert. If you make the article about your web site than it would look more like a sales pitch than an informative article. People download the articles and use them on their e-zines. All the while your name and web site address are posted at the bottom of the article.

I want to know if you have tried writing articles to promote your web site and how well it worked?
