I wonder if this problem is common. I have a Mac and work in MS Word 2001. So does my editor. I have a Hotmail account, she has an AOL one. When I try and send her documents, they contain all sorts of gobbledygook as well as the original text. Very occasionally, they work fine, and there is no obvious reason for that.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS!? WE'RE GOING CRAZY AND WE HAVE A BOOK TO GET PUBLISHED! Twisted Evil

Attachment problems..
Clary,

Have you tried compressing the files before you send it? And having your boss decompress the file at the other end? I've got no idea if this will work - just an idea.

Cheers,

I think mebbe that "gobbledygook" is the result of saving a Word file as some other type, possibly .txt or the like. It sounds to me as though what's happening is the files are being saved, or opened, without Word's proprietary formatting. I doubt very much the ISP/Mail account would have anything to do with it, but then there are reasons they're called "NotMail" and A-O-Hell"

Thanks a lot. Strangely enough, though my rtf attachments didn't work a yr ago, this time they did.
Maybe it's a pirated ms word cd.....

I don't want to dis the a2k crowd. But you might want to chime in at the Macintosh forums. 95% of us use Macs. Some of us are helpful.
Very Happy

Some of us make the software you use. So we can help fix your problem or give you a work-around.. Good-Luck..

JPOWELL you are a gem, and a find. Thanks for the linx. Macs are wonderful but they aren't perfect and can't be fixed by the pc crowd.
