Just saw this webcomic today and it got me thinking, (1) there are many tales of wishes turning against the wisher in surprising negative twists (like those in the short story, The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs*) and (2) there's always that three wishes only clause where one literally use one wish to get more wishes atop of the three wishes.

I would like to compile of as comprehensive a list of wishes one could make that could be wishful loopholes circumventing either or both of those seemingly unmovable wish obstacles.

This list could (in theory Razz ) be a great resource for people to look at if they ever find a wish granting Monkey's paw or stumble onto a real life wish granting genie from a bottle.

*If you don't know it, read it here http://gaslight.mtroyal.ca/mnkyspaw.htm. It's a classic short story everyone should know about. Or at least find a copy of The Simpson's Tree House of Horrors II, season 3, episode 7 for the satirized version.

@tsarstepan,
You're thinking of marriage proposals?

@roger,
Huh? I don't get it (the joke?) Roger. I'm talking about fictional fairy tales and superstitions.

Besides, I doubt I'm marriage material. Rolling Eyes

@tsarstepan,
No jokin', token. At some point in your life, that feminine type might be the biggest wish in your life. That is the fairy tale. The reality sets in somewhat after she says "I do".

Sorry, I thought this was on the order of "Be careful what you wish for."

@tsarstepan,
Wish for the question to be asked again at the same time in 1000 years.. Then you can say no.

Crude you find?
To not die and let another million wishes kill a billion people?

@tsarstepan,
This could somewhat be a good workaround against disingenuous genies and wishes made terrible due to unforeseen loopholes. Just stop with the wishes on the ability to fly already.
