What websites do intelligent American Conservatives read?

I am a liberal and I like to read DailyKos. DailyKos is unabashedly biased and occasionally reactionary. but a large proportion of the content is pretty well-reasoned and the political analysis from electoral predictions to political strategy to explaining what is behind the posturing of political figures is pretty informative.

I have been reading RedState which seems like it should be the conservative counterweight to DailyKos. But it really doesn't compete. Most of their content is reactionary (just compare the front page stories, mostly attacks on unions, with DailyKos, mostly analysis). I actually enjoy reading RedState because of schadenfreude, but I don't learn anything and I don't feel intellectually engaged.

Is there a conservative website that does a better job than RedState as far as political analysis and laying out cogent arguments for conservative positions?

Note: This is a US centric thread and the US definitions of liberal and conservative should be assumed.

@maxdancona,
The Weekly Standard (site) is probably a decent bet.

I was disappointed a few weeks ago to see that the National Review had devoted serious time and space to covering the over-hyped non-issue of Elizabeth Warren's possible Native American ancestry. You do tend to hope there's some insight to learn from on the Right, now and then, and when a supposedly reputable magazine devotes headlines to mudslinging, it's sad to see.

(I'm not sure I'll be spending much time reading any of those conservative zines, though. What I'd like to see is a journal full of ideas from the Christine Todd Whitmans and Sheila Bairs of the world. I'd read that.)

@maxdancona,
You've got a glaring oxymoron right in the title of this thread.

@Kolyo,
Thanks Kolyo. I don't think the Weekly Standard is what I am looking for.

When Buckley died, the US lost one of its most ignorant English language pundits. Then it lost another ignoramus, William Safire.

Luckily, we still have Frank Apisa and Setanta.

@maxdancona,
My personal favorite, has always been piss-on-a-yuppie-. com...

...besides the in depth discussions on how to properly piss on a yuppie....we often discuss all the usual subjects that are conservative/red state/redneck related...our hot topics include.....guns, guns, and more guns....reinstating slavery.....let's just saw off California....the Hilary Clinton hate club....how to properly thump your Bible....etc.

During our down-times we often play games like, pin the loser ribbon on Al Gore....or kick the wetback, it's like kick the can, but with a wetback....the substitution of any minority will do of course.

We also have a helpful tip section, such as how to avoid carpal tunnel injuries when beating fags with bats, I have found this guide to be quite useful....it's all in the wrist.

Hope to see all of y'all there.

@JPB,
Been there, done that. Did you read my opening post?

I started a thread which discusses my opinion of Erickson -- http://able2know.org/topic/203778-1

But that is why I started this thread to look for an alternative.

Do you consider "smart blonde" to be an oxymoron as well?

@RABEL222,
You kidding? My wife loves blonde jokes. She's on this site though she doesn't post much lately. Seaglass is the monicker. She'll top any blond joke of mine one-for-one.

@Bennet,
You messed up my response to you by editing out that "also" in your original posting. Now my response doesn't make as much sense.

@IRFRANK,
Like you read the National Review when he was alive.

What do you think happened when he died, the magazine and website were turned over to Neo-Nazis living in compounds in the wilds of Idaho?

Most of the writers who on the NR staff when Buckley was alive are still there, and Rich Lowry was anointed by Buckley while he was alive.

You have no idea of what your are talking about.

Next you're going to tell us conservatives need to get back to the roots of Goldwater and Reagan.

@maxdancona,
Intelligent conservative is oxymoronic, and lest ye think I am a liberal, I feel the same way about liberals.
