If my wife and I enter into a separation agreement, do I have to wait two years before I can initiate my divorce proceedings?

@Allandonald12,
Perhaps you might get a good response if you supply the basic info --- like what country and state do you live in?

If you are currently filing for a separation, surely you have a lawyer. What does your lawyer advise?

@Allandonald12,
It depends on what state you're in. My state has no-fault. When I divorced my first husband our divorce was final 30 days after my attorney filed the dissolution of marriage. So the total process took only about 45 days. We agreed on the child custody, child support and split our assets right down the middle. At that point my attorney filed and in 30 days the marriage was history. Actually it was pretty painless.
