What sort of information were you looking for - I didn't see this question before.
Ignore Slappy and Gus - we wouldn't let them in, anyway!
g_day
I didn't realise North Ryde was so much fun - I've only visited Tennis World and the Education Centre in the hospital grounds. (or was that "Re-education Centre"?)
The one problem with Australia is that Australians still outnumber New Zealanders living there - but we are working on it.
Hi there!
I would love to go to Australia one day as well. Have you heart of "assistant teachers" over there? It might be a stupid question but it would be great if someone happens to know somebody....
Not many people get bitten by spiders, unless you plan to do some gardening while on holidays.
Montana - Maybe we watch too much Crocodile Hunter and Animal Planet. I'm with you on the fear of spiders. Probably not any worse than those here in US, but TV makes them look and sound like they are everywhere, they are huge, and they have ferocious deadly bites!!!
Crikey, Me Arm!!!
Maybe we could go together... Might give the Aussies a good laugh to see us tiptoeing around as we cling to each other in fear.

Hello Julchen. Pleased to meet you!
I'm not sure what's meant by the term "assistant teachers". Do they assist teachers in the classroom? (teachers' aides) Could you supply a little more information, please?

Most of us live in cities. It's the traffic in peak hour you've gotta worry about!
Why ? Do u have spiders at traffic lights ?
I have heard the kangaroo's approach helpless drivers stuck at red lights goin, "You wanna piece of me? Huh? Do ya?"
Just kidding... I too dream of Australia.
What's the worst weather you get? Depending on where one lives in the US, we have to deal with earthquakes, ice storms, flooding, tornado's and hurricanes? Any of that in australia?
Nah, Gautam, it's those damn emus that don't obey the traffic signals!

Oz is the smallest continent & the largest island in the world, so as you might imagine, there's quite a variety of climatic zones, depending on where you are in this big place! Everything from torrential rain in tropical zones, to deserts & drought in the centre. As I said, most of us live in cities around the eastern & southern coast, in the more temperate areas.
In my state (Victoria) we have drought, floods, bushfires in summer (much like southern California), 4 very distinct seasons each year ...
You're more likely experience tornadoes in the tropical north.
Earthquakes? No, just a few rumbles now & then.
My city (Melbourne) is famous for extremely contrary weather ... The song 4 Season's in One Day was inspired by the place!

I'll bet you have trailer parks though.

You're probably right, Deb .... Cyclones was what I meant.

We do have seven of the world's ten deadliest snakes, and even male platypi have poison glands that'll do you no good at all.

Actually, there have been a couple of isolated tornadoes. I can't remember the details but a few years ago there was quite a deal of damage in one outback town from one.
Okay, I grew up in the Midwest (Missouri) so I can deal with a couple of tornado's.
SEVEN deadly snakes???? Dang!
They don't drive, do they?
Hello msolga!
Thanks for replying to my message

Well, "assistant teachers" are people who are not real teachers yet but who are from a foreign country and help the language teachers either in class or by taking a small group of students to an other room. An "assistant teacher" can come from Germany for example and teacher German in Australia. These people usually go to schools where their language is taught. Do you know what I mean?
Are you talking abt "classroom assistants" ?
