I think that surrealism is an artistic movement, whereas psychedelia is more psychological, although, certainly, it is also used for artistic and esthetic purposes.

I would think psychedelic would be random colors, like a kaleidoscope or a tie-dye t-shirt.

Surrealist would be weird and fantastic scenes that defy reality.
