@JLNobody,

@anthony1312002,
The human race hasn't had a single year of global peace ever. I looked it up. War is our default mode. Same with crime and disease. When you have laws, you'll always then have crime as not everyone's on board with subjugating their will to a government's. And when you have lots of people forced to live in close proximity you'll get diseases as some built-in mechanism seeks to thin out the numbers and some disease springs into being.

We are primates and predators. We naturally seek both community-living, but as predators competition, usually against our own best interests as with wroking more collectively. This contrary nature is one of the things that makes humans different from other animals, even other primates. Where other species exist harmoniously in nature, with nature, our species destroys nature and poisons it. No other animal destroys its' own habitat. That's all our's. And while many other species have the equivilent of war, crime, and interspecies conflict and violence, humans remain the only one who've gone from being able to kill others with a club, to destroying the entire planet's biosphere.

@anthony1312002,
War, crime, and aggresion unfortunately define humanity. Don't think you can ever get rid of it. Even Roddenberry couldn't. Star Trek saw a united human race but we still made spaceships armed for use against non-humans. And disease too is simply part of organic life. Genes mutate and change and diseases come about as a result. Can cure and prevent them, but they'll always be a part of life.

Of more immediate concern is getting rid of the factionalizing of humanity with countries, states, etc. Until we're just one planet and one people, nothing else is going to work.

If the 1980s is text, on a screen, what is the analysis of pre-1980s: of course, this includes the dinosaur age, as well as the nineteenth century.

@anthony1312002,
Haha.
Yeah, you really do not get it.

What do you think would happen if you did away with disease? You probably have a simplistic idea like "Everyone would be healthy, duh." No, deeper than that. Barring accidents or murders nobody would die. You see, old age is a function of disease. Sound great? Sounds horrible. I'm a Christian but I'm also a Taoist. These things need to be a certain way or nature is out of balance. Think interminable suffering. Think actual overpopulation rather than just the supposed overpopulation. Think people getting bored and killing themselves.

Ending crime? How would you propose to do that? Execute everyone who committed a crime? No, you said with technology. So something "peaceful" like a personality chip that robs people of free will.
You see, between this and world peace, you are looking at extreme tyranny that strips people of even the will to revolt.

Have a look at the novel Matched. It gives you a pretty good idea of what society is like when people are not even free enough to know that they are oppressed.

You would be in a living hell, and not even able to die to end it. Nice idea, but no. Crime, war, disease, and death are bad things yes. But they are also good things.

@anthony1312002,
Every war is caused on purpose.

Since British v. France.

The Money Lenders ( whom many describe being Jewish ) caused most of it indirectly.

......................................................................

Beyond that every other problem is selfish.

If their was a law that state you could walk around naked in broad daylight trust me people would be outside walking around naked whenever they could and can. People would get into arguments and go to jail.

Beyond that when people do not respect the the "Trust system". Meaning you have problems when trust is involved.

It is like going to grade school, where we are trained to stand in line for lunch like prisoners in a jail AKA "Correctional facility". Grades K-12 is a creation of people and it not the correct way to educate or train children for the world.

Your either a bad-student who gets in trouble but a good child at home.

or

Your a good student in class but with your parents you are bad.

Most people

Would rather be a sub-serviant, slave, coward, at work, and give it their all.
While going to home to cause a domestic dispute and situation only to look like a moron to a police officer or less of a human in front of your spouse. Even get arrested. In most circumstances, they take out all their stress out on their children, and spouses to a point where they could get away with traumatizing somebody for life. Kiss the cock-ring at work while struggle getting any from their spouse.

Again

people are good at work and bad at home. In time a domestic dispute occurs.

while

people are bad at work are good at home. Then they get fired.

...........................................................................................................

Again you see the pattern.

You hire an office skirt for her skirt so she could burn your money and buy shoes. Rather then hiring a working man who will save up, raise a family, and invest in a business for the next generation.

You hire an insane person who belongs in an asylum rather then a sane person who spent most of their lives inside living inside as if their lives are an asylum.

You choose selfishness over selflessness.

You choose to be a coward and worship fear instead of saying to hell with being a coward and choosing to live free.

.................................................................................................................

Fear fear worship fear you might as well worship death.
Women actually are symbols of death via

Flowers
Earth
Yang
Darkness

..................................................................................................................

When a woman worships money it leads nowhere.

@raprap,
While I thumb you up on that short concise humorous answer I would go further and say that as a collective, a superorganism, we behave exactly in the same fractal pattern other so called "living things" do...thus what we do is what MUST happen...no different from viruses, and microbes!

Oh, come on – things are really improving. The way we've all come together and embraced public health measures during the covid pandemic has been really inspiring. The way world leaders have worked diligently to solve border disputes and ethnic rivalries and avoid military conflicts has been wonderful. And now, as the planet is faced with a climate crisis, you have to admire the way petty nationalism has been submerged and a new spirit of global cooperation has been embraced. It's been great seeing the world working together like this and I have every reason to believe that this spirit will continue and that we will meet all the challenges that confront us. We are truly at the dawn of a new golden age.

It's very simple why "humans can't solve the problems facing mankind" - problems like global warming, poverty, etc. are beyond our ken, we neither possess the will nor the means to correct them.

If the resistance surrenders to the First Order unconditionally, all problems facing mankind will be solved entirely. 呵呵

You've hit the nail on the head there Smithy, the reason humans can't solve the problems facing mankind, is because mankind is the problem.

People are selfish and every once in a while a selfless person is born and turns the wheel that nobody wants to turn and because they have to turn the wheel.

@anthony1312002,
Wow, those are such great questions! Technology has certainly come a long way in the past two decades, and with it, the potential to make positive changes in the world. It's crazy that we still haven't supercharged progress for all these big issues yet. It's definitely tricky, and something people have been grappling with for centuries. We'll have to see what the future holds!

@hydrathematrixrunner,
Technology solves one problem only to reveal another because:

1. Humans are essentially self interested (even if/while they willingly contribute to their community or society), meaning their will always be conflict / dominance / power / ladder climbing issues

2. By extension of (1), because on the surface it benefits them not to, people too often won't take full responsibility for who they are, what they know, what they feel, how they act, and what they can contribute to society

3. The more problems you solve for a person, the worse their problem solving skills, the more they need lesser 'problems' solved for them (because you decrease their problem solving skills by solving problems for them)

4. At the same time, in contrast to (3), you can't help a person who doesn't want to help themself (you might find a short term solution, but won't find a long term solution)

The vast majority of people fail at least one of these, but many, particularly in the west, fail all of them. It's called a sense of entitlement.

The real question is:

Why won't humans solve the problems facing mankind?

The answer remains the same as it has always been — because there's more money to be made by exploiting these problems.
