that's what ebeth wrote about .
it was our first visit to NYC - march 1970 - over easter .
we stayed for 7 days in a " hotel " Wink - for retired 3rd rank actors as it turned out - a living room/bedroom with a " kitchen " ( a hotplate ! ) in a cupboard cost us $ 12 a night .

i believe it was saturday afternoon matinee were we saw phyllis diller - i think it was the last performance of the run .
after the curtain came down pd come out - to great applause - to speak to the audience and answer questions .
it was a memorable performance by a great actor - thanks phyllis diller for making us laugh !
