We all know that the Yankees have again flashed the cash and absconded with the richest prize in baseball. Is it good for baseball to continue to allow the wealthy teams year after year be able to buy their way to success?

No, it is not. Other pro sports (NBA, NFL) have figured out ways to level the playing the field in terms of what an owner can spend. There needs to be some sort of revenue sharing in baseball so that some of the dough Steinbrenner earns from his cable contract is shared with owners who can never dream of such revenues.

And those small-market owners would have to spend their new money on players, not to feather their own nests...
