My parents' computer has Windows XP as its O.S. A while back something happened (I don't know what) and now most of what makes XP different from other Windows operating systems in terms of graphics is no longer present. For example, the start button on XP is a rectangular shaped box with rounded edges and slightly italicized font. But on my parents' computer that changed to a square edged rectangular box with a non-italicized font. The little Windows graphic inside the Start button is the same though.
Has anyone heard of this type of problem? I tried doing a restore when this problem first cropped up. It isn't a big thing in the sense that it hasn't affected the performance of the computer, but it's just not as aesthetically pleasing.
Sounds like you switched to the 'classic' view.
Right click on Start, select Properties, and go back to Start Menu.
Could be something else, but check this first.
No, I should have mentioned that. It isn't classic view either.
Right click on the desktop, select Properties. Click on the Appearance tab, and see if under the style it says Windows XP Style or Windows Classic Style.
Interesting. It says classic, but it also has no other option available.
Hmm. . . don't know how to fix that.
Let me poke around my PC for a bit.
Okay, and thanks!
Even if you are a guy represented by a rodent.
I'll check back here tomorrow. It's almost 2 a.m. here and time for me to get some sleep!
Nighty night!
you could try going to themexp.org, and see if they have the original XP theme. Sounds like it got deleted off of your computer. But it could very well be another problem.
They have forums there. I'm hesitant to send someone off into a forum I'm not familiar with, but perhaps lurking there a bit to see what it's like and posting if it doesn't look too bad would be in order.
