Opera being a diva! (Having hissy fits, I mean)

I know nobody can help - but can anyone actually tell me what all this means?

OPERA caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:0554ed7c.

My new computer is in hospital, (forever, as far as I can tell!!!) and I am using the old clunker, which only has Opera, because IE became terminally corrupted, and deleting and reloading it wasn't possible - I mean, I couldn't download it again. (Opera prolly assassinated it!)

Opera keeps committing an illegal action, and closing itself. Reloading it doesn't help.

I am just wondering why.

I guess that "Module unknown" doesn't bode too well for anyone being able to explain the enemy to me, huh? LOL.

I guess I'm just frustrated - and having a whinge. Grrrrr...

I've often wondered what a stack dump is. Perhaps I shall have to look it up! Very Happy

Maybe you could reinstall Opera?

Yeah - did that.

I like Opera - maybe I will try something like that, though - since I seem doomed to this old clunker for a while.

Just based on past fun and games I've had with my own computer, (old one that is), I wonder if it's a software conflict. Did you just fire up the old beast and this started happening? Or had you added something to it since using it again? I'm no computer expert, so hopefully someone with more know-how will come along to answer you. But in the meantime...you have me! Very Happy

No - this problem was well and truly there when I bought the new one.

Actually, as I said above, I have already tried downloading Opera again and again.

It is slowly dying, this thing.

Not too sanguine about the new one either, at this rate!

I have been deleting programs which are not absolutely essential, as it happens. I know some program is corrupted, or something - and it won't let me run defrag, or scan disk - some program keeps writing back to the applications, and stopping tham. I suspect there is a a problem so deep that it needs to be completely re-programmmed, or whatever you call it when you take everything out and start again.

This machine is not worth doing that too, though.

Uhm....what O.S. is on your computer? If you hit CTRL-ALT-DEL just once, you should be able to see what's running. I know I had a hellish time attempting to figure out why scandisk wouldn't work without getting that annoying "Scandisk has started 10 times...." yada yada. I found out it was my security software. Apparently the version I had would be running in the background even when you thought it was shut off. I had to remove it just to do a scandisk. From what I recall (and I'd have to look it up again) as long as you have systray and explorer in the window that pops up after you do the CTRL-ALT-DEL thing, you should be good to go with any maintenance like scandisk and defrag.

Did a little hunting at Opera's web site.

Check out this page, maybe it will help?

Opera Forum

Or this one

or....

this one which is the result of a search at Opera.com using "invalid page fault" as the search terms....

Hmm - different version - different fault - interesting that they have a forum, though.

LOL!

Actually, I am sort of used to it. What amazes me, though, is how I ever added so much to the portal on this machine.

It took me nearly half an hour to add about 6 books the other night - or longer.

Musta had the patience of Job - guess I dinna know any better.

LOL! Been to the portal? Link to it on R hand upper side of each page on A2k.

You will see reviews of fiction and non-fiction books - this is what I am talking about - and lots of poems.

I added a whole heap of 'em - on this stupid machine!

Now others are adding them - lots of 'em.

Lots of good stuff in that portal. Of all kinds. Go have a look.

I've found the portal too slow and complicated to use.
