what does it mean when it says an electron's mass is 9 x 10-28 gm

Yeah I see what you done their, but do they not just write it as 9 x 1 -29 gm? is it nessesary to write it with a 10 for some reason?

...because there is a convention called "Standard Form" which uses the form
a times 10^n (1<a<10)
.... in all scientific literature and on calculator displays.
