What the hell is the government doing in the business of marriage?
The way I see we can get rid of all this debate over gay marriage by kicked the goverment out of marriage altogether. Instead, have "households" which would have the same effect. Anybody person at least 18 years of age and working full-time living under the same roof would be part of that household. Everyone else would be a dependent. Why tie it to a religious institution?
Also, why on earth would gay marriage threaten other, heterosexual, marriages?????
Because the government institution of marriage is confused with the religion instutution of marriage.
If it's legal, then 'equal protection under the law' applies.
If it's religious, then it's up to the individual church.
And if it's social, it's up to the couple.
