Peace roses were developed by Francis Melland in 1935. It was threatened during the war but seeds were smuggled out of the country. At the end if the war Peace roses were given to each of the delegations at the inaugural meeting of the United Nations with a note that read: We hope the 'Peace' Rose will influence men's thoughts for everlasting world peace. It's much more than a beautiful flower! Peace!
