My family was at the hospital gathered around my bed because the docs said I was probably not going to live. I lost my home, my business and within 2 years, my wife and kids. I barely had enough shoddy unkempt gear to do one show a week and couldn't walk a city block. I was in constant pain. 95% of the agents, event planners, employees and fellow entertainers in my life jumped in my grave, immediately went to work calling on my clients to tell them I was done.
Today I paid off my 2 systems worth of state of the art sound and lighting gear. I own it lock stock and barrel. Next month I will own my truck that hauls it lock stock and barrel. I have almost all the work I can handle and it's high end work.
Although I still have chronic pain issues, I do 10 to 20 miles cycling daily, my body fat percentage is about to enter single digits again and my blood sugar is under control without the use of insulin. I have been off ritalin and anti depressants for over a year.
I'm happy and blessed but in addition, whether it makes me sound arrogant or not..... never bet against this Polar Bear. One of these days death will come calling and I won't be able to fight it off, but it better pack a big lunch.
Hope things keep getting better...and that the pain eases.
As the Greeks used to say: You ain’t getting’ outta this alive, so you prolly should have as much fun as possible while still above ground. (I think it was the Greeks, although I might be wrong about that.)

The Bear and I have a common attitude: NEVER GIVE UP!!! Pain may make life difficult, but we never give up. Congratulations for your great progress.

@blueveinedthrobber,
I don't know you all that well, but it seems you've exemplified determination against "the odds". Your words are inspiring. Eat your heart out, Reader's Digest...
