@tsarstepan,
1. Twice a month
2. Cable TV
3. None although I don't particularly like 'Chic' Flicks or teenage hormonal comedy.
4. Hard to narrow down.
5. Citizen Kane, any Bogart film, WC Fields comedy
6. Hard to say--although there are several films that I can lose myself in at any time at any place (Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now, Scanner Darkly, Long Riders, Blues Brothers)
7. Yes although pre century movies tend to be somewhat plotless, e.g.--the sneeze. The first real plotted movies seem to appear in the nineteen teens when the novelty of 'moving pictures' started to wear off.
8. Tonight I'm going to a bar, tomorrow to a bike race. I may go see 'Prometheus' next week at a matinee.

Additional--three D movies are overrated.

1. Roughly how many times a year do you go to the movie theater?
Never

DVD and streaming video

3. What is your favorite film genre (if you have one)?
Classic cinema

4. What is your favorite film you seen this decade?
The best film I've seen this decade is Carl Theodor Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc. An absolutely stunning, transformative film. The best film I've seen that was made in the past decade? Hmmm, not sure. Hotel Rwanda was pretty damn good.

The Third Man

Dr. Strangelove

Quite possibly. I watched Citizen Kane last night. SPOILER ALERT: It's his sled!

1. Roughlyow many times a year do you go to the movie theater?
Probably three (as long as it's a halfway decent choice) -- I blame it on having an almost-teen and a just-turned teen in the home, both of whom actually still enjoy going to movies with their mah!

2. What medium do you most watch movies on:
movie theater; online streaming; DVDs or BluRay; TV, cable, or satellite; at night when you dream; etc...?
DVDs, TV/satellite

3. What is your favorite film genre (if you have one)?
I'ma tried and true horror movie person; sci-fi comes in an indiscernible second.

4. What is your favorite film you seen this decade?
I've enjoyed tons, probably far too many to label a favorite. Because the Harry Potter books/movies were to my children like Star Wars was to me, I think I'd say those have been some of my favorites because we were so anticipatory, went to see them together as a family.

5. What is your favorite film that's older then you are?
One of my favorites, at least: Some Like It Hot.

6. What is your favorite film of all time?
Again, multiple, but I will always sit down to watch anything made by Billy Wilder (Days of Wine and Roses), Blake Edwards (The Pink Panthers, SOB), the movie Excalibur, The Notebook (for when I'm feeling particularly in the need of schmoopy) . . .

I am incapable of picking just one . . .

7. Have you ever watched a film made in the late 1800's?
No.

8. Will you watching a movie tonight? This weekend?
This weekend, I think it comes out (unless it already is and I missed the fact that it had been released) -- Trouble with the Curve, with Clint Eastwood

No.

Here's a 50 second film from 1895ish as provided by Joe:

After you watch this very long train adventure, you can now brag that you've watched a film from the 19th century.

You'll have to wait a couple of weeks before the theatrical release:
USA 21 September 2012
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2083383/releaseinfo
It does look like a pretty solid and enjoyable flick to watch.

@tsarstepan,
Thank you! I can now answer 7 in the affirmative! Knew I was likely several weekends too early for the Clint Eastwood movie -- never fails! The weekends on which the good-looking releases come out, I'm working!
