Tips to Bake Delicious Baklava Dessert:

1. Make the syrup 24 hours in advance,so that its
in the room temperature when you bake the hot
baklava next day.
2. Before baking, cut the baklava into
triangles.
3. Melt the butter over a low heat temperature and
do not let it cool off throughout the
process.
4. To make the phyllo crispy, brush each sheet
of phyllo with butter just before you add it to
the pan.
5. Fill the few phyllo butter sheets with nuts to
give added flavor.
6. Bake it in 325ºF oven for about 30-35 minutes,
until slightly browned... Remember Slightly
7. Bring it out of the oven and let it settle for 5
minutes or so and then pour the syrup over
it.

Your delicious Baklava is ready! Smile

@farmerman,
I've never gotten into baklava either, farmerman.

Give me sfogliatelle any day.

They apparently can also be filled with a chocolate creme.

A video on how they're made -

A friend makes it a lot. Her biggest tip is to keep the phyllo sheets from drying out by placing a damp tea towel or damp paper towels over them. I watched her make it once and it's a lot of work -- delicious, though.

@minibaklava1,
One of the best tips I ever got for working with phyllo is to put some butter-flavored oil in a spray bottle and spray the sheets with the oil rather than brushing them with butter.

You'll use a lot less butter/oil and get better coverage.
