I thinking on a grand scale, we can dream can't we.
Besides, they grow them in northern manitoba, in caves. There should be a cave somewhere in Montana's vicinity.

Wow, this is gonna upset many people. I went to Longs Drug today to buy some cereal on sale. By the checkout stand, they had roses on sale at $4 for one dozen. They had both red and white roses. Next year, I'm gonna wait until the day after valentines day, and buy my wife four dozen roses! LOL

hmmmmm

as long as mrs. c.i. doesn't mind, you're golden.

i'd rather have the single rose i got yesterday, than 4 dozen today. but that is very much a personal feeling.

Thank you so much for the Chambord, dys!
Too bad Montana and c.i. drank it all.
Woops, I spoke too soon! There's a little left in the bottom of the bottle! Think I'll drizzle it over some strawberries and raspberries as you suggested. Mmm...how very French! Reminds me, some day I'd like to visit the Chateau de Chambord. Has anyone been to the Loire Valley and seen it in person?

About half a dozen times I've been there.

Villandry is much nicer ... with it's "vegetable"-garden (not from a cook's view, though  ):

no flowers growing here yet - except for the flowerpots in the bay-windows. growing some nice chives in a flowerpot on the window-sill in the basement; picked some pungent stems yesterday morning and presented them to mrs. h , who whipped up a wonderful omelette with cheese and chives, yum, yum ! hooray for valentines-day ! hbg

When I was out shopping on Saturday afternoon they were just reducing the prices of all bouquets in the store by 50 %... and that would have been well in time for Valentine's...

Flowers are a lot more expensive in the US than in Germany.

Oh, Walter! Villandry is gorgeous! Look at those gardens! Is the chateau itself as beautiful? I am so envious of you, being so close (relatively speaking)...

Well, the château is ... quite nice.

Honestly, the best is the view from the windows in the garden

I took this picture in San Francisco at the Legion of Honor museum. That statue in front is by Rodin.

Ah, "The Thinker"! I'd recognize him anywhere!

We're having a major exhibition of Rodin sculpture right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma right now. Exceptional, really.

Eva, If you enjoy Rodin sculptures, don't miss the many displays at the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco. They're made from bronze, marble, and plaster. I'll post a picture with a group of Rodin sculptures in a couple of minutes.

osso, Yes, we stayed at the Rex. I started a 'new' San Francisco Gathering forum, because I couldn't locate the 'old' one. The Rex will let us use their lounge for our get-togethers, so we need to set up some dates and times before the 'big' day. I asked if they could give us special rates, but the guy said they'll match any price we get from <hotels.com>.
