There's this whole thing here about new mexican peppers, but in my new mexican grocery store there are many packaged dried peppers, which I've been trying to suss out, which is fairly hard as the labeling is for farts. Turns out chili puya (chile as a name preferred it seems in NM, Dys was very insistent on that) are from mexico, not local.)

I have a thread on all this. Confusing even to me. Or maybe because it is my thread.

What's a Cadillac margarita? (I'm so hopelessly old-fashioned I know of only one kind of margarita; ditto martinis, if it's anything except gin or vodka, I can't bring myself to call it a 'martini'.)

1 1/2 oz tequila
1 oz Grand Marnier, orange liqueur
1/4 ozfresh lime juice

Shake 100% blue agava tequila with grand marnier and lime juice, and strain into a chilled salt-rimmed cocktail glass. Serve.

Well, if you're addressing more than one person you'd say, "Hoy is el cinco de mayo. Como lo celebrarán?" Or much less formally, "Como lo van a celebrar?"

Thank you, Infra. My Spanish is strictly verbal, proper conjugation and/or declension are not strong points. But, for the record, the second mistake you corrected was a careless typo.

My dad had mole poblano that day. It wasn't intentional, but I reminded him of the coincidence. The battle that day against the French took place in Puebla, the state that claims the origins of the spicey, chocolaty dish. Poblano is the demonym for Puebla.

Yes, "Hoy es Cinco de Mayo. But, "How" is not conjugated, only "celebrate." So, "Como lo celebra?" I believe that translates to, "How do you celebrate it?" In Spanish the question mark is put at the end of the sentence, and the beginning of the sentence also, but upside down. I do not speak Spanish. I only had it in school for a number of years. I prefer English. Actually, I would prefer the entire planet to speak English.

Actually, it should be margarita de naranja.

Naranja margarita is an instance of attempting to translate Spanish while thinking in English.
