Coming over from PHPBB, question re: static search pages

I am coming over from PHPBB and I am delighted to be here (great forum, and Craven is great, too). Very Happy

I am following up on a thread we had at PHPBB regarding static search url's that this site is employing-- I use something like that on my site, with great success (using domain prefixes to localize content). Wanted to hear Craven's (and other peoples) ideas on this.

It does a lot. An easy way to think of it is as a directory. It can be a portal or it can be a database backend with static page generation for the front end.

It can be. In fact it comes with templates that mimic yahoo's look and feel. But it can be used as a photo gallery, a database of articles or content or more.

The portal here is made out of it. Most of it is a typical portal (like yahoo) but specific sections have internal content. If you look at the lyrics section the lyrics are generated pages as well.
