I walked into a meeting for one of my students and my boss asked, "Why are you here?" or "What do you want?" I can't remember which, but it sort of tarnished an otherwise lovely day. To her credit she sort of apologized.

Everyone at school is overwhelmed. No one has enough time. Everyone spent their vacation catching up on some work. Too many kids need to be seen by too few staff. So, people get grouchy.

(That's one of the reasons I got out. Too many frazzled years spent in that way. Very frustrating & unsatisfying, in a job that should be extremely satisfying. )

No, this student has been newly diagnosed with an emotional disability which is negatively (to say the least) impacting her access to the curriculum.

I really like her, but working 17 hour days and SLEEPING (almost) together for FIVE Days?

And, because I got kind of pissed off about having other people telling me what I was doing and then being allowed no chance to do the careful preparatory work we normally do when we are training people in highly traumatising and triggering stuff, (plus finding out what the **** they actually WANT!) she wants to be with me so she can SUPPORT me!!!

I so get her kind intent, but do I WANT my boss being there in situations where I may end up doing my worst work ever?

Well, no, I don't.

I am already looking set to make a fuckwit of myself in front of enough strange colleagues and teachers etc!!!!
