I was SHOCKED, SHOCKED, I tell you, when I heard them FROM HER OWN MOUTH!!!
I've never heard such language before, and certainly never used anything like THAT!

Teehee!
Oh, and, why oh why didn't you guys take and share some snapshots?
We've just booked for the Australian Open tennis again in January in Melbourne.
BUT - MsOlga threatened me - using some of those unusual words - if I published any of the photos I took last time - except the one of Ms Poppy!
Anyway, boy, she sure is intimidating! (despite the fact that I'm almost twice her size!) (but only 1 and a half times her age!)
Teachers have to be intimidating. Can't you just share with a few special A2Kers (like me)?
Reading about whether MsOlga uses verbal restraint as a classroom teacher reminds me of a difficult moment I once endured. It happened when I was teaching at a secondary school, in a class of very bright students.
One of the boys was mouthing off a bit, and I wanted to bring Chuck's blathering to a halt.
A couple of nautical expressions were running through my mind:
One was "Let's shove off, matey!"
and the other was (regarding gear) "Stow it!"
I accidentally combined those two expressions in the worst possible way, and spoke rather sharply: "Shove it, Chuck!"
You should have seen the expression on his face. "Ms. Aa!" he objected.
Believe me, I had to do a hasty explanation and apology. He did believe me, no complaints were made to the principal or the school board, and there were no untoward consequences.
new gaslines are being laid on our street .
we are the lucky recipients of several loads of sand , gravel and asphalt in front of our property - and spreading out onto our lawn ... and we don't even use gas
(i' getting even , BOROWWED several pail-fulls of gravel  )
Dealing with my insurance company -- after a week we're finally making some headway -- but the idiot who caused the accident that totalled my son's car still hasn't contacted her insurance company! Grrr!

i hope you have a copy of the police report !?
an elderly lady did some minor damage to our car some years ago and agreed in writing to pay , but later changed her mind . our insurance agent told us to make sure we had a copy of the police accident report in our hands .
she also told us to ALWAYS phone the police when in an accident , ask them to attend at the scene and INSIST on a copy of the accident report - apparently some drivers are trying to blame the other party later .

hamburger --
Hand delivered the police report, receipt for the $40 it cost us, bill from towing company etc to the office this afternoon. The other driver is in our area on vacation and hasn't got around to doing the right thing yet! Some nerve, eh?

I can assure you that you're not missing much, k. (Re my less than fascinating visage, though not that of Ms Margo! (Who, BTW, is telling
incredible whoppers about my good self here. Shame on you Ms Sydney! Tsk tsk!

UPS delivered a 30 lb. box to my home at some point between 7pm last night and 7am this morning. They dropped it on the porch and never rang the bell, never knocked on the door, did absolutely nothing to alert us to its arrival although both of our cars were in the driveway and it was clear that someone was inside the house.
Oooh, that pisses me off.

That's happened to me too, eoe. Sometimes there's no one home and they leave it anyway. That really ticks me off. Anything could go missing.
It's even more annoying when you're at home but they post something through the door to say you weren't in and you have to collect whatever it is from the sorting office.
spiral fracture of my fifth metatarsal

Yep. Had that happen too.

Sorry, Steve, I hope you heal quickly.
Steve, that sounds really painful. Wish you better very soon.
Ow, steve! How'd you do that?

I told you that you shouldn't try those dance steps! Don't come whingeing to me - even if you are a Pom!
