I have 7.2 pairs at present, with a further 2.8 pairs in for repair.

I have been told that there are 73 men presently working at the shoe repairers, all aged over 70.
Personally, I think that is a load of old cobblers.

@Brooke2000,
Gosh, I must have over 20 pairs of shoes, and always seem to forget about them when the right season comes to wear them!

I've got just two pairs, a pair of trainers (sneakers) for casual wear, and a pair of proper shoes for interviews and stuff.
As for women, it's none of my business but I'd recommend they have a pair of trainers for everyday wear and several pairs of sexy high heels for --ahem-- romantic evenings at home with the man in their life..Wink
I once had a ladyfriend who always wore horrible shapeless flat shoes so the next time she visited me I gave her a pair of high heels as a present.
"Try them on" I said as we sat on the settee, but she mumbled "Er...no" and put them in her bag.
That finished us as far as I was concerned but I was too much of a gentleman to kick her out, so I put the TV on for her to watch and I sat reading a book for the next hour or two without speaking to her until she said "Well I suppose I'd better be off".
I walked her to her bus without speaking a word and off she went, and we've not contacted each other since. Good riddance!..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
Romeo
That was a bit mean! No, quite mean.
Perhaps she had a good reason for not wanting to wear them. I've had surgery on one foot and can no longer wear high heels.
Perhaps she just didn't want to cater to your fetish....

Another woman who I dated always used to wear horrible flat sandals and old style long victorian dresses, and when I suggested she'd look nice in stylish high heels and colourful dresses she hit the roof and yelled "I'm not going to look like a trollop for you or anybody else!!!"
We didn't last long..Wink
And yet I always made a point of asking her if she liked what i was wearing!
For example I once said "do you mind me wearing shorts?" and she said with a smile "they're fine"-

@ehBeth,
Having worked in the shoe industry, Florsheim shoes, I now own about twenty pairs. One reason is that employees received huge discounts, and most of the shoes I behave today are Florsheims - and most still look new. I now buy Rockport shoes, because I can walk in them all day (even up to ten miles), and while on vacation in Spain and Portugal in December, I averaged 6.2 miles a day.

I have two pairs of running shoes. No dress shoes, no work boots. They're all I need, in normal times.
