I would like to know what are the benifits of using PHP in your coding. I do a lot of coding in standard ASP and have found that you can do most everything without having to use PHP. So what are the advantages of having it?
To me the real advantages are cost and available resources.
PHP is a cheaper platform to develop on for many reasons.
There is also a lot more PHP source code out there available for free.
Popularity and cost are big issues. I don't offer hosting plans for ASP for e.g.
Hey Craven...Do you have a hosting company??
it just makes you feel much better about your coding, whether it works properly or not!
............. oh, no, that's PCP;
sorry.
lol!
um, here's Craven's hosting & development site, skinnz...
www.able2know.net
wow that is embarrassing....I thought he was just an able2know junkie...no offence craven
hmmm; 'junkie' ..............
yeah, someone who does nothing else
I'm still not sold on PHP. Is PHP vs ASP more like a MAC vs PC kind of thing, where it's mostly just a preference thing?
As far as cost and availability goes, I's cost me nothing to program in ASP and sample code for pretty much everything I've ever needed is available all over the internet.
I want to know what it is about PHP that would make me feel like it's worth checking out. Funny, I even go to the PHP web site and read about it and I still see no significant reasons to start using it.
It's obviously the next big craze in programming, so what am I missing about it?
