@Ragman,
Wow. I just realized you said solar. I was thinking lunar, and gave a big yawn.

@roger,
Yeah! As far as excitement goes, clear-sky solar eclipses are like a 9 out of 10, whereas lunar eclipses are often no more than 4 out of 10.

@Ragman,
Maybe I know someone down that way that'll let me stand in the yard and watch it get dark.

@roger,
Roger is allowed in my yard as long as he smokes and pulls thistles.

@ossobuco,
I do believe that 4:00 Friday afternoon works. We'll meet at the assigned coordinates. Any chance of getting a real street address to look for?

@CowDoc,
Absolutely.
Back in a minute.

Rock, I doubt there are thistles growing there for Roger to pull.. Although, I admit, I've never seen a gardener at work in the place. Eerily perfect, if you know what I mean.

@ossobuco,
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60933-d387154-Reviews-Flying_Star_Cafe_Rio_Grande-Albuquerque_New_Mexico.html

4026 Rio Grande Blvd.
take Fourth up to Griegos, turn west, go to Rio Grande, turn right/north, and you'll be there immediately, the first block.. Good bookstore next to the restaurant, original local authors and so on.

There is parking behind the whole complex if not in front.

@ossobuco,
Well, I don't know where your hotel will be, so directions may vary.

@ossobuco,
Hah, the cowdocs took photos. We liked them so much that we let them.

Meantime I promised Mr. Cowdoc I'd post a photo of roosevelt elk, so back with that.

The Cowdocs are terrific. I liked both of them a lot and they clearly like each other. Mr. Cowdoc is a master story teller, and master of actually interesting trivia, and Mrs. Cowdoc is somewhat less flamboyant (that's not a dig, he's great) but not bad, not bad at all (I wink to her).
Neither of them are actually assholes (now an in joke).

@ossobuco,
Roosevelt elk in Orick, California, photo by me -

this was at an intersection with 101 - north up 101 we rode to that spot and then west to the beach (through a fern land.) The restaurant did serve elk burgers, forget the name of it, I think german. Herd gathered between the restaurant and the highway.

My stuff isn't always in focus. Anyway, I have a faint memory of one elk being boss and I think he is at the center.
