Had a meeting with my potential next boss last night. I asked him if there was any skill set he wanted me to pick up...
So, I'm looking for a good self-taught Java course... book, web... whatever.
I've done C, I've done Visual Basic, I've done a handful of other languages/systems etc.
For now, I've got MS Visual Studio... 'bout 2 years old... haven't looked at the Java part. I know that Mr. Gate's Java isn't the real deal... but is it worthy of looking at anyway? I've heard that Sun is giving the stuff away...
Anyway... whatchoo think, eh?
You can get the Sun JDK for free and play with it to your hearts content. They have a lot of programming info on their WWW site too.
They have a lot of mini-conferences at the corporate office in Burlington that are free too (and they usually give away goodie.
). I'll keep ya posted when I hear about the next one.
Thanks a pile... I'll have trouble during the daylight hours getting away... Won't quit the day job till the guy has got funding to pay...
Well, for those wee hours of the mornin' when ya just can't sleep.

With Mrs. SealPoet taking classes and all, that may be my best shot at the computer; the wee hours...
