Yeah, but who, besides you, said that?
Sorry... I have several books of quotations, and I must say I love such bon mots because much philosophy can be stacked in a laconic expression... But; I know what I know as well, and I often find myself asking of a quotation: Is that really true; and if not, then how could I correct it...
I just read the other day that Marriage is the only adventure open to cowards...
It certainly has some truth to it, because unless a marriage is good or extremely bad it is unlikely to end in death... And, as with all partnerships; if one is likely to cook the books and make off with the profits, then an accomplice or fall guy is equally handy...People know of such affairs before hand that they seldom follow the predicted or expected course, and are only a little less miserable than life without marriage, and yet many think to hide behind a form they have no desire to fulfill while expecting the other to fill it out in due measure... For those who cannot bear the responsibility of the inevitable pain of life we can excuse our guilt the more we unload the blame on our spouses... But; as Dr. Johnson said in the same vein, and truly: Marriage has many pains, and celebacy few pleasures... I vote for pleasure, and bravely take the responsibility for my failures... In fact, I never believed it would work because I felt my life cursed, and so it was, so I should never have married, and to find my self so happy amid so much of the pain of life is a guilt I can live with... What do you think???
