Disappearing pointer or lazy mouse?

I was happily using my old plain unfrilled mouse, but no pointer appeared onscreen after hibernating or going on standby. This, may be the remains of a problem with hibernation & standby that I finally "solved" by reinstalling XP Home altogether.

I tried various mice, but the result is always the same - mouse is only usable after shutting down completely and starting up again. At the moment, I am using a Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse, and Luddite though I tend to be, I am finding it very handy. For some reason the wheel didn't work, but now, all of a sudden, it does, and I am quite pleased. So maybe I'll stick with it, after all.

Anyway, the point of all this is: how can I get my mouse to work after hibernation or standby? My computer is an hp Pavilion 9800, BTW.

Sounds like you have a software problem

Try going to Logitech's website and downloading the newest drivers/software for your mouse and re-installing all of that. That may solve the problem.
