today I am small blue
a dewdrop
to glide slowly down your cheek
to settle in the hollow of your throat
to catch between the fine hairs
of your chest and then to slither on
I am cool against your skin
all pressed up close to you
perfectly reflected in your eyes
nestled softy in the corner of a lid
to change into a tear
I am skipping down the stairway
of your mind
lingering
sliding down a banister
to land sweetly at your feet
quietly, I reflect the light
to sparkle in the sun
to warm the spot upon your back
between your shoulder blades
or found in the small smooth space
behind a knee
today I am small blue
sad
a simple dewdrop
in which a universe rests
you touch me
I scatter in small pieces
myriad lakes of thoughts and
unknown desires
today I am small blue
a dewdrop

Wonderful extended metaphor. Favorite line "myriad lakes of thought and unknown desires." Very powerful for a "dew drop." Well done.
sweetpea, How very lovely. I truly liked your direct metaphor; it reminded me of another poet (can't remember off hand) who wrote "Mama is a Sunrise"...Keep 'em comin', sweetpea.
thank you very much, Dupre!
