E-mail protection

I'm kind of peeved. I downloaded AVG 6.0 (the freebie) and it regularly reported that my e-mail was fully protected. For a variety of reasons I decided to get the full version of 7.0, and the CD. Now I get the report that my e-mail is not fully protected. Upon enquiry, I find that MSN e-mail is not covered at all. Rolling Eyes

Is there any (other than Norton) antivirus program that covers MSN e-mail? The e-mail I use is MSN but calls itself Hotmail, not MSN's Internet Explorer, although the various controls and settings are done through IE. (Hotmail accounts not part of MSN are a separate thing).

I have been happily trusting MSN's filters, and they seem to work well, so to some extent that AVG coverage is not vital. But what really annoyed me was that nowhere on the AVG site was there any reference to coverage of only particular e-mail clients. If there was any, I certainly didn't see it.

I like AVG in general, it's only the e-mail gap that bothers me.

So: two questions: 1) Do I need an AV program that will cover MSN, and 2) Have I the right to be a bit peeved at AVG? Confused

P.S. I know that many people deplore having the same outfit provide Internet service and e-mail. But for the moment, anyway, that's how it is, and I have to consider things in the light of having the single service.

Howdy Tom:

Hotmail uses McAffee av to scan its own email.. As for being peeved, nope.. Hotmail is web-based and stays on thier system.. POP email downloads to your system when you connect to your server, thus, the need for an av scan such as Norton or AVG when you open OE or Outlook.
