I'm not sure what I could usefully contribute to the other thread. I don't know the answer posed, for a start.
There's no question that I, and everyone else in Europe, owes a huge amount to the USA. There's a lot of love here for the USA. But those of us who can read try to see the big picture.

One thing that can help you understand this thread is that while there is a strong correlation between saving lives and doing good they are quite different things. I am not at all trying to establish the latter, just the quantity of the former.
