why isnt my charge on file or court date on file?

how come my charges are not on file at the courthouse a week after the arrest? mycourt date hasnt even showed up...the circuit clerk couldnt find it when i called. i called a lawyer and he cannot find the charge in his database. i am confused. does it take this long to file usually? i have a courtdate set on my ticket...
