What annoys me about the Internet Archive >:(

Reply Wed 30 Nov, 2011 10:05 am
It is somewhat annoying when you go to Archive.org and are looking for past web pages and not finding web crawls that go back as far as you want. For example, I had some notes that was archived on one site that I am looking for and the archives don't go back further than '05. I have to take the time to look through some old print-outs of notes from webpages to see if I can find the URL to these webpages are on there.

I am not being negative - I am stating what I dislike about Archive.org - it can be somewhat of a nuisance especially if you take a lot of notes from things online.

Does anyone else agree?

@djjd62,
It is WRITTEN:

1 Corinthians 6:13 - "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"--but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

1 Corinthians 6:18 - Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

@JGoldman10,
Did you find that in the Internet Archive?

I located this in the Book of Absalom, chapter 3, verse 9:
"Woe unto the heathen child what makes cartoons which maketh a mockery of animals as the Lord hast created them, Selah."

It would appear Goldilox that you are violating the commands of the Lord by making His creatures into cartoons doing non-animally things. You will surely burn in the pits of Hades.

@Sturgis,
Tell that to Warner Bros., Disney, Universal and all these other Hollywood studios who make cartoons and the studios who make them for TV.

Aliens don't exist but they make cartoons out of them anyway:

@JGoldman10,
Why are you trying to derail your own thread with an irrelevant Biblical quote?

djjd62 made a post commenting on the type of archived material he would like to be able to view again. Whether or not you approve of the content of that info is irrelevant to your own topic regarding the Internet Archive.

Then you felt compelled to respond to Sturgis post, by needlessly defending animal cartoons.

Do you want your topic discussed or don't you?

@djjd62,
I am NOT interested in PORN - that goes against my beliefs as a CHRISTIAN. IS there anything else you look up on the web BESIDES that?

@JGoldman10,
You don't seem to understand, you are handing us a space creature, and the verse I quoted was about animals.

It doesn't matter anyway when it comes to Walt Disney or Terry Toons or Warner Brothers because they all had huge sums of money which they earned, and they gave it to various charities, so Abba saw fit to let them be absolved of any sin attached to Leprechaun, duck, pig, cat, skunk, squirrel, kangaroo, or other animal cartoons.

@JGoldman10,
sure, but that's the first thing i thought of

for the most part my net use changes pretty quickly, in the early days my main focus was on gaming, i belonged to a bunch of gaming forums, most of them fell apart as members tastes change, and i myself moved on

i look up things as an interest strikes me, i rarely pine for things that are gone

Then just ignore comments about porn.

Why post a topic if you don't want to stick to a discussion of that topic?

Why are you derailing your own topic threads?

What about the Internet Archives would you like to discuss? Did you post a topic that people could reply to with only a simple "Yes" or "No"? Is that all you were expecting in terms of a response?

@Sturgis,
There is a Bible verse:

Exodus 20:4

You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Meaning you aren't supposed to make an animal idol and worship it.

@Sturgis,
ANTHROPOMORPHIC animal characters are not real.

Woody Woodpecker is Universal, BTW, not Terry Toons.

@JGoldman10,
Getting back on topic - I know I have said this before, but they should have kept the OLD search function on the Internet Archive- the new current one is kind of clunky. The OLD one was easier to use.

Here's a link to the other topic you started back in July about a similar complaint about the archive.

Humanized animals don't exist and neither do cartoon aliens.

@djjd62,
He talks with leprechauns and they tell him everything.

I did discover the problem that Goldilox is having though, when I stumbled upon this video of him just this very day. Yup, it explains a lot about him.

@Sturgis,
How did you go from talking about anthropomorphic animals to leprechauns?

Leprechauns, fairies, gnomes and elfs resemble human beings so how can you compare them to humanoid animals? Why are you even talking about them- those are fantasy creatures that use magic.

Anyway, it is good idea to make screenshots of webpages or to create your own
caches of pages. Fortunately for me, I had print-outs of some old web pages I kept up with. Sometimes searching for old pages can be a drag if you don't recall what the URL was when you found your info online.

There ought to be more than one source were you can retrieve copies of web pages besides archive.org.
