I was just wondering how am I suppose to choose what category to submit my site to in DMOZ??? I have a site that touches on Books, Spirtuality, Technology, Movies and Travel... I am wondering if I submit my site multiple times, (Once in each Category) Will it make them so they don't want to add me at all???
Dmoz frowns on some multiple submissions, as some webmasters tend to spam their directory.
But then again, if you have infividual pages that have content that meets their criteria and is different in topic from the other pages you can work it out.
In other words let's use a hypothetical example:
Don't submit domain.com to each category.
But domain.com/travel/ can go to the travel cat
domain.com/movies/ to the movie cat....
Etc.
When in doubt ask the editors, as much of this is a subjective judgement call. If you have a small new site most editors will not think it worth linking to at all, much less multiple categories.
If the content is such that they think it improves their directory they will add it.
IMDB has over 8,000 links in dmoz. That's an example of one site with multiple listings. And they deserve it. Their movie pages are relevant and worth linking to.
geocities has over 111,000. That's an example of one domain with various sub directories and topics.
Personally I prefer to let dmoz discover me. But if you submit I recommend strongly against multiple submissions unless you know your site is at teh level it needs to be to make it an improvement to dmoz.
And never submit the same URL to multiple categories.
So you want to be able to submit content-targeted sections.
You need to be able to give a URL that leads to the specific topic.
