Why do you suppose Jesus never condemned slavery?

@reasoning logic,
They don't exist in the real world.

Condoms, anyone?

Do they exist in a make-believe world and if so would it be reality?

Just hoping you would apply it to yourself, Frank.

@neologist,
Apisa seems to me to be blissfully unaware that the standards he demands of us are not applicable to himself.

The technique wins him every argument he engages in.

@reasoning logic,
They exist as fiction, as works of art.

Jesus never condemned slavery because he did not exist, and wasn't God remember?

Oh! You guys mean you think that he would have as God when he had existed?

Well then only Jesus could possibly know the answer...

@reasoning logic,
By the way RL, do you believe in logic and reason?

No I do not. All that I have are understandings and they are only approximations of reality.

Why are you chickenshit fearful of attacking the Church on the basis that it's restrictions on sexual license are unreasonable and unnatural in this day and age?

I presume you have at least a vague idea about what some scientists have claimed are the inevitable health risks of such unnatural restrictions. If you haven't then what you spout on these matters is unworthy of notice except as an exercise of the vocal chords.

Are you afraid of condemning those restrictions or of the State having to impose them if the Church leaves the scene?

You answer that question. Yes--do.

2000 year old societies breeding too fast for desert conditions are things you know nothing about.

@Frank Apisa,
Why do you suppose Jesus never condemned slavery?

Or it might be better to ask you why Jesus is not reported to have condemned slavery.

What evidence do you have that He didn't? Are you guessing?

I've answered that dozens of times in this thread. I suspect it is because the god he worshipped said there was nothing wrong with slavery. If his god says it is okay...chances are it was okay with him.

I've mentioned in the thread that the question can be conceived of as: Why did the people who wrote about him not report that he did...if he did. We do not know if the man called Jesus did condemn it...and it was never reported. But since so much of what he did condemn WAS reported, it seems a stretch to suppose the people who worshipped him would leave it out. Seems much more likely that he did NOT condemn slavery...and he did NOT DO SO, because his god told him there was nothing to condemn about it.

Thank you ever so much for asking, Spendius.

@Frank Apisa,
What naivete. It's incredible. A bloke who takes 150 shots to get through 18 holes with a second-hand set of golf clubs disposes neatly with the most important man in history.

Incredible is an understatement. Especially bearing in mind the motive force behind such a position if you will excuse me using such a suggestive term.

LoL...What does it mean? It has to do with a joke in response to Spendi's? (sorry, I don't remember his letters or what they meant)

Never mind my first...I got it...Do you remember what Spendi's meant?

Stop building straw men, Spendius. You are not especially good at it.

Ask Spendius about his. This one I would prefer to remain a mystery...in case anyone wants to take a shot at figuring it out.
