formmail.php sending 2 copies of every email - what's wrong?

First off, I'm not a PHP programmer. Second, even though setting up form processors is one of the most fundamental things with web development, I've never needed to do one, so as yet I don't have experience with php or cgi form processors.

Anyway, I tried using Jack's FormMail.php 5.0 (documentation here), and I believe I set everything up fine, but for some reason it's sending 2 copies of every email!

2 copies of the submitted form data go to my inbox, & 2 copies of the autoresponse go to the visitor. Any ideas why it's sending 2 copies of every email? Actually, it's sending one email...with the recipient's email address in the 'To' field twice, so you get 2 copies.

Here's my full formmail.php file (the only stuff that needs to be configured is right near the top).

I didn't change anything below "$referers = array ('');", other than changing 2 instances of:
echo "<small>This form is powered by <a href=\"http://www.dtheatre.com/scripts/\">Jack's Formmail.php ".VERSION."</a></small>\n\n";
To:
echo "<small>Wise Worth Consultants, Ltd.</small>\n\n";

Any help with fixing it or ideas why it's sending emails with the recipient's email address added twice would be super appreciated! Thanks!

Here's a portion of the header of one of the emails, to show the order the fields are in, in case that helps (note the second 'To' field listing the same address).

Code:
To: [email protected]
Subject: test
MIME-Version: 1.0
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Reply-To: [email protected]
X-Priority: 1
X-Mailer: DT Formmail5.0
Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
boundary="----=_OuterBoundary_000"

I'll have to take a look at it later (and probably upload it to a server) so I might not get around to it for a few days.

Question:

Do you need a complex form? With attachments and such? If not I can just give you the simple code I use.

Sure. Thanks Craven! I definitely don't need it to handle attachments. There are a number of features I like in the script above, but since there are alternate methods of accomplishing them anyway (eg error messages if required fields aren't filled in), I'm happy to dump the script.

Well, I'll email you what I use for the forms here. I will eventually sort out the problems with the script above or simply re-write it but what I already use will be a faster solution.

Hopefully the server admin doesn't have restrictions on email that will complicate all of thsi for you.

Is it on one of ipowerweb's cpanel or vdeck boxes?

Ah, one thing I didn't mention is that I only validate email. I do it first with javascript then the php die function.

If you want to make additional fields required you can do it with either javascript or PHP. Just let me know.

I'm set. Thanks for the code it worked great! I added a bit extra javascript validation to the form page, and your php code was very simple to figure out so 'twas easy to add everything I needed (autoresponse emails, page layout info, etc). Cheers, Craven! Smile

Code:function checkEmail(myForm) {
if (/^\w+([\.-]?\w+)*@\w+([\.-]?\w+)*(\.\w{2,3})+$/.test(myForm.email.value)){
return (true)
}
alert("Invalid E-mail Address. Please enter your correct email address.")
return (false)
}

Your email validation code is impressive
